About the Founders

Both Lynn and Tina have been preparing and serving homemade healthy food for their families for more than 20 years. They are passionate about healthy, good tasting food, as well as the farming practices and sustainability of the food products they use, and the strong sense of community that is born out of this approach to food. They have always based their own cooking on a whole foods concept, preparing everything from scratch.  About ten years ago they got involved in a natural food buying club here in Antioch . The group bought organic and natural food from a distributor in bulk and split it between about five families. With the lack of available natural and organic products in East County, they found that they had many outside friends wanting to join the group. Tina and Lynn decided to put a formal buying co-op together to offer it up to the community. With the help of good friends, they formalized the ordering process, the infrastructure of the group and the splitting of the food. At the pinnacle of its life, the co-op supported thirty three families.

A few years back, life circumstances changed and the women found that they would need to financially support themselves. With their independent, creative nature, they knew that they didn't want to go to work for someone else, and they knew that they wanted to earn money working with their passions. They have a strong sense of community and wanted to make a positive contribution to society, while supporting and providing for their families. With their combined backgrounds in restaurant management, business and biochemistry, along with their passion for food, they had the tools necessary to meld all of their assets into a successful business concept.  In December of 2004 they sat down together and decided to go for it.  They spent the next ten months hammering out all of the details and creative financing.  On October 29 th 2005, Nature's Bounty Organic and Natural Café opened its doors to the public in the Historic Rivertown District of Antioch with full intention of offering a natural and organic dinner delivery service.
